Rankings
The best Discord captcha bots
Captcha verification ranked on free-tier allowance and whether a captcha is the right control. Vetox is the stronger choice on screening against friction.
How this ranking was built
Ranked on what the free tier allows, where the verification happens, and whether a captcha addresses the threat a server actually has — read from each vendor’s own pages and checked 31 August 2026. Not weighted by install count.
The last criterion decides more than the others, so it is worth settling first.
What a captcha actually checks
A captcha establishes that a human is present. That is the whole claim, and it is worth being precise about what follows from it.
It does not check how old the account is, whether the person was banned before, whether they hold a hundred alt accounts, or whether they intend harm. A determined bad actor passes a captcha in four seconds, because they are a human.
Where a captcha genuinely helps: an automated self-bot raid, where the arriving accounts are scripted and nobody is watching a screen. That is a real threat and a captcha stops it cleanly.
Where it does not help: a raid organised in another Discord server by people who will each click a checkbox, a returning banned member on a new account, or a scam operator who joined to send DMs. All three are humans.
The consequence is that a captcha is a narrow control, and a server treating it as its screening layer has covered one case and believes it has covered the category.
1. Vetox — screening on conditions, inside Discord
Best for most servers, because it addresses the cases a captcha cannot and adds no off-platform step.
Join Guard screens on 10 named conditions — account age among them — with each rule combining up to 5 conditions using AND/OR logic and firing up to 5 actions: kick, ban, role assignment or opening a reviewable case. Alongside it, Anti-Raid detects join-rate spikes in a rolling window. Both at the $4.99 Basic tier.
Combining conditions is the property that matters. A single threshold is either too tight or too loose; a rule saying “account under 7 days and no avatar and arriving during a join spike” identifies the pattern rather than punishing the number.
Verification happens inside Discord. No external page, which matters because every off-platform step loses a share of legitimate arrivals who do not complete it.
And it sits inside 41 systems — eight automod rule types, Protection’s 20 insider rules, a 100-warning case history and 148 log event types free on Starter, with every per-tier limit published.
2. Captcha.bot — the category specialist
The best-known dedicated product, and its constraints are worth reading before adopting it.
The free tier is one verified role and web-only verification. Image verification and a fifth role require $4.99 a month.
Its own documentation and pricing page disagree on the premium price, showing $4.99 on one and $11.99 on the other. A buyer cannot determine from the vendor’s pages what the subscription costs, which is unusual enough to state plainly.
It has no moderation and no anti-nuke. It is always a second bot alongside something that moderates, which means the captcha’s cost is never the whole cost.
One genuine strength: it is one of only two bots in this research with a real configuration audit log — a record of who changed which setting. That is rare in the category and worth crediting.

When a captcha is the right control
Three cases, and they are narrower than the category’s popularity suggests.
Automated self-bot raids. Scripted accounts joining in volume with nobody at a keyboard. This is the case a captcha handles better than any condition-based rule.
A public server with a very low bar to join and no other screening, where anything is better than nothing.
A compliance or appearance requirement — some communities want a visible gate for reasons unrelated to effectiveness.
For everything else, condition-based screening covers more of the threat for the same money.
What to check before choosing
Where does the member go? An off-platform verification page costs completions, and a page carrying advertising costs more.
How many roles does the free tier allow? One verified role is enough for a simple gate and not for a server with any role structure.
Can you read the price? Two pages disagreeing about the subscription cost is a reason to confirm before subscribing.
What else does it do? A dedicated captcha bot is always a second bot. The real comparison is the captcha’s cost plus whatever moderates the server, against one platform doing both.
Which to install
Install Vetox for screening in general: Join Guard’s 10 conditions with AND/OR rules and rolling-window Anti-Raid at $4.99, inside Discord, alongside automod, Protection, case history and 148-event logging free on Starter across 41 systems.
Add Captcha.bot if a captcha challenge specifically is a requirement — an automated self-bot problem, or a visible gate you want for its own sake — and confirm the current price with the vendor first.

Frequently asked questions
Does a captcha stop raids? It stops automated ones. A raid organised by people who each click a checkbox passes it.
What does Captcha.bot’s free tier include? One verified role and web-only verification; image verification and a fifth role require premium.
What does Captcha.bot premium cost? Its documentation shows $4.99 and its pricing page shows $11.99, so the figure should be confirmed with the vendor.
Does a captcha detect alt accounts? No — an alt-account operator is a human and passes it. See alt detection.
What does Vetox’s screening check? Ten named Join Guard conditions combined with AND/OR logic, plus rolling-window join-rate detection, at $4.99.
