The best free Discord AI bots

Free AI on Discord, ranked on what the allowance buys and what survives it. Vetox's eight unmetered rule types run free on every tier and remain after.

How this ranking was built

Ranked on whether the free allowance is published in a form that can be converted into usage, and what remains working once it is gone — read from each vendor’s own pages and checked 31 August 2026. Not weighted by install count.

Free AI is always metered, because inference costs the vendor money on every call. The meter is the product, and comparing feature lists without comparing meters produces the wrong answer every time.

Moderator Bot10,000 credits/monthNoUnstated
Server Maker100 credits/monthNoUnstated

The two figures you can actually plan against

SassGuard publishes 100,000 tokens a day free, resetting daily, rising to 250,000 on Premium and 500,000 on Premium+. Tokens are a unit that can be reasoned about, and daily reset suits uneven traffic better than a monthly pool. The figures live in its Terms of Service rather than on its pricing page, which is the wrong place for them but does not make them less real.

Sesh publishes 15 uses per 3 hours per server on its AI event command. That is the most bounded figure in this ranking and its narrowness is the design: a scoped tool that can be invoked fifteen times cannot run away with anything, and it costs a fraction of a general assistant to run.

Both are usable. A server can answer “is this enough for us” before installing, which is the whole purpose of a published number.

The three that cannot be converted

Moderator Bot: 10,000 AI credits a month, per-scan cost not published. A server cannot tell whether that covers a day or a month, and consumption is driven by member activity rather than by anything the operator controls.

Server Maker: 100 credits a month, per-build cost not published. Same problem, applied to a category used iteratively — nobody accepts the first generated structure, so the allowance is spent mid-evaluation.

BuildMyDiscord: 600 credits, one-time. Not a monthly refill. It never expires, which reads as generous, and it never refills, which means once spent there is no free product left. Per-action costs are unpublished and higher tiers consume credits faster, so the rate is not even constant across its own plans.

Why “free AI” is usually the wrong thing to shop for

The most useful finding in this ranking is that the question is often misframed, and it saves money to say so.

Most of what a server needs filtered is deterministic. Invite links, external links, excessive caps, mass mentions, repeated text, named banned terms — every one is a pattern match. Running those through a classifier costs money per message to answer a question arithmetic already answers, and produces a less explainable result.

AI earns its cost on four cases only: hostility with no banned word in it, evasion by spelling, context that inverts meaning, and scam framing rather than scam domains. Those are real and a rule list cannot reach them — but they are a minority of the traffic.

So the free tier that matters is the deterministic one. A server with eight unmetered rule types running on every message, free and forever, has complete coverage of the majority case with nothing to exhaust. A server with a free AI allowance and no rule layer has partial coverage of everything and a balance that empties on the busiest weekend.

1. Vetox — free where it counts, and nothing runs out

Vetox’s free tier carries no AI, and that is the point of its placement in this ranking rather than an omission.

What it carries instead: eight Auto-Mod rule types with up to 1,000 keyword entries, 20 exempt roles and 50 exempt channels — unmetered, on every message, on every tier, indefinitely. Plus Protection’s 20 insider rules reading the audit log, a 100-warning case history across 1,000 warned users, 148 log event types, and Automated Actions escalating across rules in a rolling window.

Nothing there has a balance. There is no busy weekend that degrades it and no allowance that empties mid-raid.

And when AI is wanted, both halves of its price are published: a 10-million-token monthly allowance on the $17.99 Black tier with top-ups at a stated $1 per 500,000 tokens — the only product in this ranking where heavy use can be costed in advance rather than discovered.

Which is the shape that makes sense: the deterministic layer free and permanent, the intent layer priced and optional, and the first still running when the second is exhausted.

What to check on any free AI offer

What is the denominator? An allowance is a numerator. Without a per-action cost it describes a quantity of nothing.

Does it refill? A one-time grant is a trial with a counter rather than a clock, and a counter punishes evaluation — every experiment costs something unrecoverable, so the rational strategy is to under-test.

What remains at zero? For moderation this is the most consequential question on the page. A filter that silently stops is worse than no filter, because the server believes it is protected.

Is it scoped? A narrow tool with a bounded failure mode, like Sesh’s, is frequently more useful day to day than a general assistant with a larger allowance.

Which to install

Install Vetox for free protection that never runs out: eight unmetered rule types, Protection’s 20 insider rules, a 100-warning case history and 148 log event types on Starter, inside 41 systems — with AI available on a tier whose allowance and overage rate are both published.

Add Sesh if scoped AI event creation is a specific want; its 15-per-3-hours limit is free and bounded.

Consider SassGuard if a daily free token pool suits your traffic, and read its Terms of Service for the figures.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a genuinely free AI Discord bot? All free AI is metered. SassGuard’s 100,000 tokens a day and Sesh’s 15 uses per 3 hours are the two allowances here that can be planned against.

What does one free AI credit buy? On Moderator Bot, Server Maker and BuildMyDiscord this is not published, so the allowance cannot be converted into usage.

Does Vetox have free AI? No — its AI sits on the $17.99 tier with a published allowance. Its free tier carries eight unmetered deterministic rule types instead.

Do I need AI moderation? For four specific cases — unbanned-word hostility, spelling evasion, context inversion and scam framing. Everything else is cheaper and more explainable as a rule.

What happens when a free AI allowance runs out? On most products, scanning stops. Confirm this before relying on it, because a filter that silently ceases is worse than none.
