Alternatives
The best Countr alternatives
Countr has no dashboard and its Patreon slot pricing is undocumented. What counting (countingbot.com) and Vetox offer for counting instead.
Countr is free, open source and genuinely ad-free — the only counting-focused bot found in this research with no vote-lock anywhere in the product, and its GitHub source is public enough that switching away from premium loses nobody’s data, since the free and paid bots share one database. That is a real, well-earned reputation. What it doesn’t have is a way to actually see or buy any of it without leaving Discord.
What you would be giving up
The deepest counting feature set published anywhere in this research: 8 counting systems
including binary, hexadecimal, base64, Roman numerals and math equations; 7 behaviour modules with
declared incompatibilities; a flow engine with 8 triggers and 12 actions, run through a genuinely
well-built four-step in-Discord wizard. Data portability in both directions — /data import scores accepts another bot’s JSON export, and /data export all gets everything back out, which
almost nothing in this category offers either way. And only two commands in the entire codebase
are premium-gated — /liveboard set and /liveboard disable — everything else, including the
whole flow engine, ships free.
The wall
There is no web dashboard, at all. Every setting — the counting system, flows, filters, position roles, modules — is a slash command, with the flow editor running as a four-step wizard inside Discord. Countr’s own documentation frames this as deliberate, but it is, by the numbers, the single largest usability barrier in this comparison for a non-technical moderator team.
Premium is only obtainable through Patreon or Nitro-boosting the support server, and how many server slots a given Patreon pledge buys is not published anywhere — not on the pricing framing, not in the docs. A prospective buyer cannot work out what they’ll get before paying, and there is no direct checkout, invoice or company-friendly billing relationship at all.
Three triggers per flow on free, and the docs warn that any trigger fires all of a flow’s actions — so a server wanting several independent role rewards needs one flow per reward, which turns the 15-flow free cap into an effective 15-reward ceiling.
Two counting channels free, five on premium — the hard ceiling even when paying.
No refunds at all, stated plainly on the docs: “We do not offer refunds.”
The alternatives, compared
| Bot | Systems | Dashboard | Free channels | Global cross-server board | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Countr | 8 (incl. math mode) | none | 2 (5 premium) | no | $1/mo Patreon (slots undocumented) |
| counting | 1 (decimal) | none, public read-only scoreboard | not stated | yes — global high/total/user boards | not published anywhere |
| Vetox | 1 system + math mode, foreign-numeral support | yes | 1 | no | free; auto-saves gated at Basic/Max/Black |
counting (countingbot.com) — bigger, and even less documented
The largest counting-focused bot found across this entire research: 1,280,000 servers, corroborated independently by Discord’s own directory and the vendor’s own live counter on its homepage — a rare case where the two agree exactly. Its whole pitch is a cross-server leaderboard: current, high, total and per-user scores ranked against 1.28 million other servers, which is a genuine feature Countr does not have at all.
It is also the least documented product in this comparison. Discord’s directory flags the
application as monetized, but the vendor’s own site has exactly four outbound links and no
pricing, premium, donate or documentation page anywhere — what money buys, if anything, could not
be established. Its one consumable, “saves,” is earned by voting through a URL the vendor’s own
listing publishes — and that URL returns a DNS failure. Configuration is entirely c!-prefixed
commands, credited to a two-person team maintaining a seven-figure-scale bot with a GitHub gist for
its legal terms.
Two smaller bots share the same generic name and add to the confusion: Counting at counting.bot
(75,100 servers) and Counting Bot at countingbot.supercrafter100.com (52,100 servers) are both
listed in Discord’s directory as separate products from this one and from Countr — worth knowing
before assuming any comparison you read is talking about the same bot.
Verdict: the pick only if a global leaderboard against other servers is the actual draw. Expect even less transparency than Countr, not more.
Where Vetox fits
This is the answer to “I need a dashboard and a way to buy this without joining a Patreon,” not to “I need Countr’s specific module set” — Countr spreads 8 numeral systems, a flow engine and its modules across a single-purpose product, with capacity sold through an unpublished Patreon slot mapping and no dashboard at all.
Counting itself is entirely free on Vetox — only the daily auto-save allowance is gated, at 0 saves on Starter, 1 on Basic, 3 on Max and unlimited on Black. Everything else — the channel, start number, increment, failure mode, custom emoji, milestones with role pings and a custom embed, custom reset and save messages, math mode and the leaderboard — carries no premium gate on any tier.
Two specifics worth naming directly. Math mode is a genuine parallel to Countr’s math-equation
counting system: a hand-rolled evaluator (no eval, no dependency) that accepts expressions like
(2^3)*4 and validates the final value rather than requiring a literal integer, turning the channel
into a puzzle rather than a typing exercise. And foreign numeral normalisation — Arabic-Indic,
Persian, Devanagari, Thai and full-width digits are all read as the same count regardless of script,
which matters for multilingual servers and isn’t published as a capability on Countr’s own docs.
Stated plainly: Vetox runs one counting channel per server on every tier; Countr’s free tier allows two, rising to five on its premium bot. A server that wants several simultaneous counting channels gets more from Countr on that specific axis. What Vetox trades for the narrower channel count is a dashboard-configured setup, milestone embeds, and the daily auto-save landing automatically rather than through a Patreon pledge of unstated size. Full detail is on the counting documentation.
Migration friction
What transfers: the count itself and the leaderboard, if the destination bot accepts a JSON
import — Countr’s own /data export all produces one, and its docs describe accepting another bot’s
export the same way, so a server moving between counting-focused bots that both support the format
loses nothing. What doesn’t transfer: counting history is per-bot, so a move from Countr starts the count and the leaderboard fresh. Flow
configurations, position-role mappings and module settings are Countr-specific and have no equivalent
to carry over regardless of destination.
Which alternative to pick
| If you are leaving because | Switch to |
|---|---|
| You need a dashboard, not slash commands | Vetox — free counting, dashboard-configured |
| A global cross-server leaderboard is the point | counting (countingbot.com) — but expect zero documentation |
| You want Countr’s exact depth, just with clearer pricing | Nowhere found matches it — stay on Countr |
| You want more than one counting channel free | Countr already beats Vetox here — 2 vs 1 |
Frequently asked questions
Is Countr actually free?
Almost entirely. Every command except /liveboard set and /liveboard disable ships free, and the
free and premium bots share one database, so nothing is lost by not paying. Premium mainly raises
numeric ceilings and adds the live-updating scoreboard.
How much does Countr Premium cost? Patreon lists $1/month for “Premium” and $25/month for “Sponsor,” or a Nitro boost of the support server for exactly one server slot. What a $1 pledge buys in slots specifically is not published anywhere the vendor states.
What’s the biggest counting bot?
counting, at countingbot.com — 1,280,000 servers per Discord’s own directory, independently
matched by the vendor’s own live counter. It publishes no pricing or documentation of any kind, which
is the trade for that scale.
Does Vetox’s counting game match Countr’s depth? Vetox runs one counting channel per server, free on every tier, configured from a dashboard, with math-mode input and foreign-numeral normalisation Countr does not publish — inside a platform of 41 systems. Countr spreads 8 numeral systems, 7 modules and a flow engine across its own single-purpose product, with capacity sold through an unpublished Patreon slot mapping.
Can I move my counting history to a different bot? Only if both bots support the same export format. Countr publishes a JSON export and import path; switching to Vetox from Countr starts the count and leaderboard fresh, since Vetox has no import path for another bot’s counting history.
Method
Every capability and limit above was read from the vendor’s own documentation, source repository or site on 30 August 2026, including Countr’s public GitHub source for its exact free-versus-premium limits. counting’s pricing opacity and dead vote-for-saves link were confirmed directly against its own pages on the same date.
