Vetox vs Xenon
Xenon is a single-purpose backup and clone bot billed per account across unlimited servers. What it saves against Vetox, and what each costs.
The distinction that decides which bot you need
Xenon does one job and does it as a specialist: snapshot a server’s channels, roles and settings into a backup owned by the person who ran the command, restorable to any server they administer. That last detail matters more than it sounds — a Xenon backup is portable across servers by design, which makes it as much a server-duplication tool as a disaster-recovery one. Vetox’s backup is a feature inside a much larger platform: it protects the same server that runs moderation, tickets, leveling and everything else, from the same dashboard, without a second bot invite or a second subscription to manage. The question worth asking before installing either is whether backup is the only thing you need from a new bot, or one system among several a server is missing. The wider backup bot ranking covers what else exists in this small category.
How this comparison was built
Every capability and price below was read from Xenon’s own site and documentation on 31 August 2026. It is not weighted by install count or App Directory position — the comparison covers what each product actually backs up, how restore works, and what it costs.
What Xenon does well
Xenon is best-in-class at the one thing it does. Backups belong to the user, not the server, so the same subscription doubles as a migration and cloning tool — a genuinely different capability from anything scoped to a single server. Billing follows the same logic: Premium is $5.99 to $15.99 a month, per Discord account, and covers unlimited servers that account administers, which is structurally cheaper than per-server pricing for anyone running several communities. Message-level restore exists at all, which is rarer than it sounds in this category — the top tier backs up 25 to 250 messages per channel depending on plan, and a separate Chatlog feature archives up to 1,000. Cross-server sync of messages, bans and role assignments in either direction is a genuinely distinct capability with no obvious equivalent in a general-purpose bot, and Xenon Vault, its enterprise tier starting at $25/month, adds uncapped message retention and data-residency control.
The free tier is real, if narrow: up to 15 stored backups, one automatic backup kept per server on a
24-hour minimum interval, threads and forum posts included, and a public template gallery for
building a new server from scratch. What free backups do not include is any message content at
all — the message_count argument caps at 0 on free, so a disaster that includes losing content is
not covered until a paid tier.
Xenon’s public template gallery is a related but distinct capability worth naming on its own: any user can browse and apply community-submitted server templates, which makes free Xenon useful even to a server that never runs a single backup — spinning up channel and role structure for a brand-new community in minutes rather than building it by hand.
Where the two differ
| Category | Vetox | Xenon |

| Entry backup price | $7.99/mo (Max, bundled with 40 other systems) | $5.99/mo (Premium 1, backup only) |
| Free tier backup | Not available — requires Max | Structure only — channels, roles, settings, threads; 0 messages |
| Message backup | Not offered | 25 / 100 / 250 messages per channel by tier; unlimited on Xenon Vault ($25+/mo) |
| Configuration surface | Web dashboard | Slash commands only — no dashboard |
| Cross-server sync | Not offered | Messages, bans and roles, either direction (paid) |
| What else the subscription covers | 41 server systems — moderation, tickets, leveling, giveaways, games | Backup, cloning, templates and chat archiving only |
| Public API | 494 documented paths, published npm SDK | 4 endpoints, partner-only access |
Pricing compared
Xenon’s Premium tiers are $5.99, $10.99 and $15.99 a month (or $54.99, $104.99 and $149.99 yearly), billed per Discord account across every server that account manages — a genuinely different shape from most of this market. Xenon Vault starts “at $25 per month” for enterprise-grade uncapped retention. Vetox’s backup requires the Max tier at $7.99/month or $69.99/year, which is priced per server rather than per account, but that subscription also covers Access Control delegation and 40 other server systems beyond backup — moderation, tickets, applications, leveling, self-roles, giveaways and 40 free games are already included at Starter, free, before backup enters the conversation at all.
What each gives you before you pay
Xenon’s free tier gives a real, if content-free, safety net: 15 stored backups, structure and settings captured, one automatic backup every 24 hours. Vetox’s Starter tier gives none of the backup system — that requires Max — but includes everything else a server runs day to day at $0: all 32 moderation commands, 20 protection rule types, 148 log event types, tickets, applications, leveling with unlimited rank rewards, unlimited self-role panels, giveaways, and all 40 games. A server weighing the two free tiers is really weighing “no-cost structural backup” against “no-cost everything except backup.”
Vetox’s backup in depth
Server Backup on Vetox captures channels, roles, server settings, bans, nicknames and role assignments, configured entirely from the dashboard rather than a command line — a scheduling and restore surface that sits alongside the rest of the platform’s configuration screens instead of a separate slash-command vocabulary to learn. It is gated at Max ($7.99/month or $69.99/year), with a 25 MiB size ceiling and up to 50,000 documents per collection; Black raises the size ceiling to 100 MiB, with the document ceiling unchanged. Because backup lives inside the same platform as moderation, tickets and leveling, restoring a server’s configuration after an incident is one step in a system that already has the server’s full picture — Dashboard Watcher, free on every tier, records who changed which setting through the dashboard, giving a server a record of what happened before a backup was needed at all. A server evaluating whether Max is worth it should weigh backup against the tier’s other unlock, Access Control delegation, together — a server that wants either likely wants both.
Which to choose
Choose Xenon if backup — including message content, and including the ability to clone or migrate a server entirely — is the specific job, especially across several communities on one subscription. Its per-account billing and portable, user-owned backups are a genuinely better fit for that narrow need than a per-server platform feature.
Choose Vetox if a server is missing more than backup — moderation, tickets, applications, leveling, self-roles, giveaways, games and notifications are all included free on Starter, with backup available once the server is on Max for other reasons too.
Frequently asked questions
Does Xenon’s free tier back up messages? No — the message backup argument caps at 0 on free. Message content requires a paid tier, starting at 25 messages per channel.
Is Xenon’s backup billed per server or per account? Per Discord account. One subscription covers backups across every server that account administers, which is cheaper than per-server billing for anyone running multiple communities.
Does Vetox have a free backup option? No — Server Backup requires the Max tier ($7.99/month). Everything else on the platform — moderation, tickets, applications, leveling, self-roles, giveaways and 40 games — is free on Starter.
Can Xenon clone a server, not just restore one? Yes — because backups belong to the user rather than the server, the same backup can be loaded onto any server that user administers, which functions as server duplication as much as disaster recovery.
Does Xenon have a web dashboard? No. Every documented operation — creating, loading, scheduling and deleting backups — is a slash command.
Is Xenon’s restore destructive? Yes, by design — loading a backup replaces all channels and roles in the target server. It does not kick existing members.
Does Xenon offer server templates, not just backups? Yes — a public template gallery lets any user browse and apply community-submitted structures, useful for building a new server’s channels and roles even without ever running a backup.
Do Vetox’s other systems still work without paying for backup? Yes — moderation, tickets, applications, leveling, self-roles, giveaways and 40 games are all free on Starter regardless of whether a server ever upgrades to Max for backup.
