Alternatives
The best MEE6 alternatives worth switching to
What each MEE6 alternative replaces and what it costs. Vetox is the strongest — moderation, levelling, tickets and 40 games free on Starter.
People leave MEE6 for three reasons: the price, the per-server billing, or a specific limit they hit and could not raise without paying.
Which alternative is right depends entirely on which of those three it was, so this is organised by reason rather than by rank.
First, the number you are comparing against
MEE6’s list pricing is $89.99 lifetime, $49.99/year, or $11.99/month, per server and transferable between servers.
A site-wide 50% promotion was running when we checked, showing $44.99, $24.99 and $5.99. Those are promotional and will expire — compare against list, not against a sale.
Per-server is the part that hurts. If you run three communities, you are buying three licences at every tier. Almost every major alternative works the same way, so this is rarely the thing that switching fixes.
If you left because of leveling limits
Arcane is the closest like-for-like on leveling and is $7/month or $75/year. Message and reaction leveling are free; voice leveling, custom XP values, rank card backgrounds and advanced level-up tags are not, and free role rewards are capped at 15.
So Arcane is a genuine upgrade on leveling depth and a lateral move on cost.
Vetox ships leveling free on Starter with no cap on role rewards at all — the specific limit most people run into elsewhere. Custom XP curves and per-channel multipliers sit at Basic ($4.99/month), so check those against your actual requirement before switching. The full picture, including where it answers MEE6’s other gated features, is below.
If you left because of the moderation feature set
Sapphire is free, with no paid tier advertised at all. Moderation with case management, automod with Discord AutoMod integration, and logging with 80+ log types.
The catch is scope: leveling, tickets, games, economy and giveaways are not advertised anywhere on the site. As a MEE6 replacement it covers the moderation half and none of the engagement half.
ProBot runs $5/month or $40/year for Tier 1, $10/month or $80/year for Tier 2, with Advanced Protection on both tiers — not Tier 2 only, as several comparisons claim. Tier 2 adds a Custom Bot and Transfer Bot Ownership. Its signature is the welcome-image generator, and its docs ship in ten languages.
If you left because of price
This is where most people are disappointed, because the category clusters tightly.
| Bot | Entry paid tier | Model |
|---|---|---|
| ProBot | $40/year | per server |
| MEE6 | $49.99/year (list) | per server |
| Dyno | $49.99/year | per server |
| Arcane | $75/year | per server |
| Sapphire | free | — |
| Vetox | $44.99/year | per server |
Switching from MEE6 to Dyno to save money does not save money. Switching to Sapphire does, at the cost of half the feature set. The honest saving comes from a bot whose free tier covers your actual requirements, not from a cheaper paid tier.
Where Vetox fits
Six of MEE6’s 31 crossed rows are Vetox’s free tier: leveling with role rewards, moderation, welcome messages, custom commands (as auto-responders), reaction roles (as self-roles) and giveaways — all included on Starter, with no time limit on the tier itself.
Concretely: all 32 moderation commands and all 8 auto-mod rule types, leveling with no cap on role rewards at all, unlimited self-role panels across button, dropdown and reaction modes, the entire giveaway system including entry requirements and weighted bonus entries, 25 auto-responders, and 3 ticket panels at 200 concurrent tickets — a system MEE6 does not offer at any price. Every game is free on every tier as well.
What is paid on Vetox is a different list from MEE6’s: Anti-Raid, the eight notification integrations, Battle Pass and sticky roles sit at Basic ($4.99/month); AI moderation and AI server administration sit at Black ($17.99/month). None of those is one of the six MEE6 features above — the free tier here is not a smaller version of the paid product, it is a different, complete product underneath it.
Verdict: if more than one of MEE6’s crosses is why you are leaving, Vetox is the single switch that answers the most of them at once — Sapphire only answers moderation, Arcane only answers leveling.
The wider review is in the Vetox review, and the full leveling comparison is in which Discord bots charge for leveling.
The cost nobody quotes
Migrating a bot is not an install. It is rebuilding every configuration you have accumulated: level roles and their thresholds, welcome messages and their variables, automod rules, reaction role panels, ticket categories, log channel routing.
For a server that has been running two years, that is an afternoon at minimum, and members will notice the gap. XP history does not transfer between bots — everyone’s level resets unless the new bot offers an import, and most do not.
Budget for that before you decide the annual saving is worth it.
What MEE6 actually gates
MEE6’s pricing page is a client-rendered application, so reading it means decoding the tick and cross icons rather than trusting the visible text — done here and confirmed against MEE6’s own support-portal article. Its own 37-row comparison table marks the free column with a cross on 31 of them, including XP and Levels, Moderation, Welcome messages, Custom commands, Reaction Roles and Giveaways. What a free MEE6 server actually gets is Search anything, Achievements, Starboard and one timed message.
If you are switching because of one specific limit, that is still the number to compare. But it is worth knowing the gate is rarely narrow — MEE6’s free tier reads closer to a demo of the paid product than a smaller version of it.
Which alternative to pick
| If you are leaving because | Switch to |
|---|---|
| Leveling is paid, specifically | Vetox (free, uncapped) or Arcane (deeper, $7/month) |
| Moderation is paid | Sapphire (free) or Vetox (free, plus everything else) |
| You want the whole feature set, not one gap patched | Vetox — answers six of MEE6’s 31 crossed rows free |
| Price alone, and your needs are narrow | Sapphire — free, no paid tier at all |
| You are not sure yet | List your actual crossed rows first, then compare against those |
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free alternative to MEE6? Depends which of MEE6’s crossed features you need. Sapphire is free and covers moderation and logging only. Vetox is free on Starter and covers six of MEE6’s 31 gated rows at once — leveling, moderation, welcome messages, custom commands, reaction roles and giveaways — plus tickets, which MEE6 does not offer at any price.
Does any alternative do everything MEE6 gates, for free? The closest is Vetox: leveling with unlimited role rewards, moderation, welcome messages, auto-responders, self-roles and giveaways are all free on Starter. What is paid on Vetox — Anti-Raid, notifications, Battle Pass, AI — is a different list from what MEE6 gates, not an overlapping one.
Will my members’ levels transfer if I switch from MEE6? No, not to any bot checked here. Every member’s level resets, which is the real cost of switching and the reason to announce it before you do it rather than after.
Is MEE6 actually the most expensive option here? At list price, yes: $11.99/month against ProBot’s roughly $3.33, Dyno’s $4.17, Vetox’s $4.99 and Arcane’s $7 for a deeper leveling product specifically. Sapphire has no paid tier at all.
Should I switch or just pay for MEE6? If your server is small and the crossed row you hit is narrow, paying might be simpler than a migration afternoon. If more than one or two of the 31 crossed rows matter to you, an alternative’s free tier is very likely to cover more of what you actually use, at a lower price than staying.
